In early April the Garden Club students made Kale Chips!! It's a very easy recipe. We just cut the kale leaves from the School Garden, drizzled with olive oil, sprinkled with sea salt, and baked the leaves at 300* for 20 minutes. The children all enjoyed eating the "krispy" kale. I think they were envisioning potato chips, but the children were good sports. :) Yum, yum!!
Kale Fun Facts:
- Kale is a form of cabbage.
- It contains sulforaphane (particularly when chopped or minced), a chemical with potent anti-cancer properties.
- Until the end of the Middle Ages, kale was one of the most common green vegetables in all of Europe.
