The Dysart School Garden was created in 2008 as a result of being awarded a School Garden Grant to the third grade teachers at Dysart Elementary School in El Mirage, Arizona. This blog is to inform the Dysart Community of upcoming crops that they can harvest, and also provide a forum for fellow gardeners to share information and helpful tips about southwest vegetable gardening.

Our Garden in Fall 2013
It's been over a year, and now we have a new Garden Club working in our garden! Check out their comments...... reports about what's going on in the Dysart School Garden.
we have been doing alot of things in gardening club and we've been planting and my adventure was that when i got too hold the earth warms I couldnt like belive myself and they were so slimy and i kept screaming in the classroom and i maybe got in trouble and thats it.but another adventure was i just gotta tell you but,i'm not really of much a weed puller and it's kind of a little hard but sometimes you just need too push yourself into something you really really like doing.and one thing you really need too do is GARDENING.And the point of really gardening is in your heart.- Anaya
At Garden Club,we have been growing things like:Pumpkins,Kale,Squash,etc.It hasn't been that long and we have already harvested the radishes.We planted kale and they're growing pretty well.
listen up people we are in gardening club and we have something we have to tell you,so far we planted all ready but we are pulling weeds every wednesday and friday.Soon we are going to make compost and find worms and to let you people know we pulled out radish on wednesday.Well today the 11/22/13 was a rainy day and we didn't go outside this day and check the garden but since it's raining the garden will maybe grow.Next week were not going because it too cold,too wet,and too windy. One day you can join the gardening club with Miss.moberg.-this is by Jesus Moreno Jr. P.S. it fun to be in the gardening club.
At Garden Club we have been growing many plants such as: Kale, Radishes,Squash, Pumpkin, etc. We have harvested radishes. The plants are growing very well. In my row I've planted kale and it's growing very well and I think we will be harvesting it very soon. YUMMY!!!! Now we are making a compost bin, which will enrich the soil with nutrients by letting fruits and vegetables rot. This will make the plants grow much faster because the soil is much more rich. Overall, Garden Club is very fun. - Branden
We know that nut grass has bombs so you have to dig deep to get them out. We can't step up on the hills where the plants grow because then they will die. - Julia
So far in garden club we planted kale radishes,pumpkin and squash And we puled weeds and picked radishes beet. And we will be harvesting soon. AND we started compost . the plants are growing very well. And compost will make soil. So you should go to miss mobergs gardeningclub
The garden has been amazingly growing.We have grown kale,pumpkins,radishes,etc.I got to grow pumpkins and they started to sprout last Friday!Dylan's kale has been growing fast and Avery's has barely started to grow.We done many discoveries lit the nut weed has little bulbs that explode if you don't pull it right.We played with worms it was gross and fun at the same time.We also working on making compost.We also tasted radishes boy they are spicy.:)Well that has been my experience her at Garden Club home of the plants!!!:)

The garden has been growing a lot the past few weeks.We harvested radishes already.We are planting radish,pumpkin,lettuce,beets,squash,kale,carrots,etc.Our class got to play with Real worms! They felt slimy,ticklish,and gross but it was fun.Yvette planted radish,Julia also planted radish.Michael is planting spinach,and Dylan,Ethan,Braden,and I are planting kale. Be very careful when you have nut grass. There's a bulb on the root of a nut grass. If you pop the bulb,seeds will spread. Soil is made out of cow poop. That's why you wash the vegetable before eating it.We love our school garden and make it grow.

Well my pumpkins died which sucks but i got to plant something else now. we been did lots of fun things and ate pudding!well the plants have been growing!!!!!its been really fun
thank you very much. it is very fun. we had planted very beutiful flowers. it is awesome. we are growing radishes they are spicy.but some of them are dead! and we get to go in the play ground!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes ms. moberg helps us she is a fun teacher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are having a great time.
